Planes, Trains, Cars and Boats

Copenhagen is easy to reach by all means of transport.

  • Your main airport destination is the Copenhagen Airport (Københavns Lufthavne), CPH, but you could check out the Malmö Airport (MMX) in Southern Sweden as well.

  • You'll find a good network of trains and coaches in Denmark.

  • Getting around by car in Denmark is easy. The roads are in good shape and usually not too crowded.

  • You can even arrive at Copenhagen with your own boat via the North Sea through the Kattegat and Skagerrak.

Direct Link to Sweden

The Öresund Bridge connects Copenhagen with the southernmost region of Sweden, Skåne, thereby creating a transnational, metropolitan area called the Öresund Region - a new centre of Northern Europe. You can reach Malmö, the capital of Skåne either by train, bus or car by crossing the bridge.

Public Transport in Copenhagen

The Copenhagen Metro opened a new stretch between the airport and city centre in September 2007 - to the benefit of both visitors and Copenhageners. It only takes 15 minutes to get from the airport to Kongens Nytorv to the heart of Copenhagen, but of course you can get off at a number of stations beforehand, like Christianshavn or Nørreport, or you can continue to the final stop, Vanløse.

The metro station at the airport (Lufthavnen) is located at the end of Terminal 3 and is covered by the roof of the terminal.

The Metro operates at four to six minutes' intervals during the day and evening hours and every 15-20 minutes during the night.

Tickets for the Metro are available at the Metro station and at the DSB ticket sales counter in Terminal 3. Please note that the ticket machines do not accept notes, only coins and cards such as the Dankort, VISA, etc.

Check-in for return flights is available at the metro station Lufthavnen – at the end of Terminal 3 – there are now two self-service kiosks where passengers can print out both boarding cards and baggage tags. All major airlines are connected to these kiosks.

Taxis

Taxis are plentiful in the city. All taxis in Copenhagen are licensed by the authorities and are equipped with meters. Taxis can be flagged down anywhere in Copenhagen. If the yellow "Taxa" light on the roof of the car or in the front window is on, the taxi is available for hire. The meter starts at 24-37 Danish kronen (DKK).

Accommodation

List of Hotels and Booking Form
Please select your hotel category on the accommodation website before reaching the respective booking form.

Above is a list of hotels and hostels to provide you with a suitable selection in Copenhagen, ranging from budget to luxury. Walking and transport distance from the Trade Fair have been added to help you find something within easy reach of the daytime venue. Thanks to all your valuable feedback, we are working hard to make our accommodation choices as affordable as possible.

WOMEX Map of Venues and Hotels is a very useful map comparing the location of many of the accommodation options for WOMEX 10 created by our friend Dmitri Vietze (rock paper scissors) on world music blog DubMC.

The daytime venue can be reached easily by public transportation from all of the hotels. We recommend to choose a hotel which is close to the M1 metro line.

The rates mentioned in euros are approximate prices and calculated per today's exchange rate.

You will be able to book your hotel through the Welcome website or the Copenhagen Meeting Secretariat (Welcome Meeting Management). Their office is open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 16:30.
